Visual artist, graphic designer, web designer, interior and furniture designer.
My multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation, drawing, performance, and socially engaged art, exploring play, public space, and collective memory, often collaborating with children.
I hold degrees from Helwan University, Gerrit Rietveld Academy, and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
My work has been exhibited internationally, including the Cairo Biennale Something Else, Dakar Biennale DAK'Art, CAAM Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno, and Centre Pompidou, as well as in Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, and Cairo.
My PhD research focuses on co-design, public art, and children’s role in shaping inclusive, playful public art in urban spaces.
Statement
I build from fragments of where I have been. I choose what I keep. I choose who I become.
My work moves through fragility, displacement, transparency and silence. I search for what is real through time, repetition, and gesture. Each work begins without certainty. Each work is a first time.
I work with forms and with absence. I reduce until only what is essential remains. Emotion becomes structure. Desire becomes space.
I cannot change the world. I can shift my place within it. Sometimes, distance is where clarity begins.
“There is always something to do with performance underlying her work, which she, the artist, still inhabits, occupying the empty interior spaces suggested by her objects / installations in order to give them life and move around the space, in an open invitation to viewers to actively immerse themselves within the work itself. In this sense, the question posed in the title of this project, “And if I die?”, could offer a possible solution springing from the very nature of the artist’s work.
